About This Event
Dirty Gold Theatre presents David Ives’ bold and electrifying play, Venus in Fur. Loosely inspired by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s 1870 novella Venus in Furs—the source of the term masochism—Ives reimagines the story in a sharp, contemporary setting. What begins as a late-night audition quickly unravels into a seductive power play that blurs the boundaries between actor and character, dominance and submission, truth and performance. With biting wit and escalating psychological tension, Venus in Fur dives deep into themes of gender, desire, and control.
The show runs 1hr 45 min without intermission.
Content Warning: Use of a prop gun and knife, explicit language, sexual content and themes, and flashing lights and loud sounds.
Directed by Roy Lazorwitz
Starring Julia Bennett as Vanda and Dylan Hoeffler as Thomas
