About This Event
Cloud Nine is a satirical play that examines how gender, sexuality, and power are socially constructed. Set first in Victorian colonial Africa and then in 1970s London, it uses role‑reversal casting and humor to critique patriarchy, imperialism, and fixed ideas of identity. Performances run May 1–24, Thursday–Saturday at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2:30 PM.
Content Advisory (18+): Recommended for mature audiences. This production includes sexual themes, strong language, and discussions of gender and sexuality, which may not be suitable for younger viewers.
Meet the Organizer
A coming together of veteran Austin performers, producers and directors, The Stage aspires to be proudly producing full seasons of professional theater, including a dynamic mix of dramas, musicals, original works, American classics, Shakespeare and more. The Stage’s concept is rooted in a shared desire to promote our local theater community, compensate performers and crew for their creative efforts, and offer some much-needed relief to the dwindling availability of Austin theater space.
